Kilh taste like chicken - murloc was here - click me an atheist
Ah yes, random title.
Anyway.
Been lots of stuff happening lately, from sound design, music to voice acting and I’ll try to cover all in this post so it might be a good long one.
First of some sad news:
Donald LaFontaine or best known as “King of voice overs” or “Voice of God” passed away September 1st of a blood clot. If you ever saw a trailer\preview clip you most likely heard his voice doing the famous trailer voice he was best known for. It is sad to have lost him in the field as he was respected by many and envied for his amazing coarse voice. My deepest respects to his wife and children. Rest in peace.
Youtube movie of Don LeFontaine that explains everything about the man, the legend, the voice
Now onto more happy stuff:
Recently, the wegame contest came to an end and with 120 entries up and spiring, there are some movies that did well and some that could’ve need some more work. I didn’t have time to watch all 120 of them so I watched only some. It so happens I was ninjaed along to work with some of them.
First we have Pinkhairs movie: The Robber Baron of Warsong Gulch.
This is probably the only unique entry of them all, as it is made like a silent movie with title cards and low quality effect on the film to make it more Authentic. Some of the piano work is by me and he used them right. If you look at my previous blog posts you can find a link to all the music. He also used a projector sound I provided him and it worked out good as well. I thought the movie was amazing and I hope it is one of the top winners
Next we have Firebolt productions - Yohan Vågstedt: Way Of Life
For this movie I provided voices and sound design, I did Arthas and Scarpo neither of them came out as good as I had hopes for :\ oh well. I did the sound design for the movie and used about a week to create mostly everything original. I used some sound libraries to speed the process up and some other sound designer gave me permission to use some of their sounds, though I had to redesign most of theirs. You will notice that in the beginning there is lots of detail to the sound until after the horses are gathered. I realized that time was short and I had to hurry. I finished it right on time which was lucky.
It was interesting and I tried to balance it so that there was only music at some parts and where Nathan decided not compose for (to also save time), I added more detail to the sound design. The battle between the giant and the creatures is without music and just with sound but I love that bit cos it provide solitude to the sound scape and emphasize cruelty and bitterness there is in natures “big fish eats little fish” concept. It should have a lonely and chaotic feel to it which I think all of us were able to achieve. In the end, I had to master the volume so voices, sound design and music all were in balance, as well as making the voices fit the scenes (Bassing them, reverbing. ect.)
Next project is DragonPowers movie: Fight for Survival - Episode One
For this movie I provided all the voices except the dwarfs voice, which was provided by Matt Greenburg.
The script was strangely put together and confusing but the outcome was better than what I imagined.
There will be future installments of this series so if you enjoyed it as much as I did, don’t worry.
Last we got Mushanga’s movie: Wish Upon a Gnome part 1
I only had one character part here which was Archimonde, though he had two lines, I was too late to provide the final line which is something I regret on. I don’t wanna stall a project or be the reason for it not going so well because I didn’t finish my job but unfortunately, I got caught up in so much, my time just ran out and it was posted the exact day I finished the second line for him so it was unlucky :\ good work though, Mushanga. Looking forward for your future installments.
So these where the movies that I can remember that I contributed to. Good luck to all of you
Many people got problems getting in contact with me or listening to my voice demos, there will be new voice demos soon up on the page, very very soon. But if you wanna get in contact with me you can email me: Carummerian(at)gmail(dot)com. Or you can also get in contact with me through firebolt which was nicely provided by Yohan himself: caruu(at)fireboltproductions(dot)com. Thanks Yohan!
Some time ago, I voiced for gnomechewer in his terminator trailer inspired machinima: Argent Crusade: Salvation
Awesome stuff, I was able to mispronounce the guy’s name but I think it went well regardless. Gnomechewer is a great guy to voice for. He got some funny ideas.
In an upcoming blog post I will provide a small audio tutorial on how you can handle audio mastering in vegas.
Until then, GxG.
